Africa in the News

When life gets too rough, you get a helmet. The story of Eric Frimpong is one of those stories you will say could only happen in the movies. From rag to grace and grace to hell? Poor Eric went from poor village in Ghana to United States on a scholarship to better himself, only to end up in jail for a crime that he may not have committed. Whatever happened to beyond a reasonable doubt? So the Santa Barbara justice system is trying to tell me that jury of his peers (all white jury) with no evidence to tie the victim is justice deserved? Now this a justice served on nail and screams of misjustice. Who was his lawyer? Seriously America, please let this poor boy go unless you have a case! May God save you Eric.

Ghana vs. Nigeria: Ghana 1, Nigeria 0
Thanks to the WEST again for creating a rival among brothers. So the word on the street is that people are considering it a big SNUB that President Barack Obama choose Ghana over Nigeria.
In as much as I wanted my President to visit my motherland, but he picked Ghana, end of story. Sure, he gave his polictical correct answer, but we all know that with the sound of oil in Ghana will get folks rushing to stake a claim...just my opinion...:)
It is all good. We hope that Obama will visit Nigeria during his first term, he needs us. And word to the motherland, get your act together.
This paragraph got me thinking:
For the past 50 years, as Nigeria fails to invest in itself by providing the necessary socio-economic values, its businesses and peoples are increasingly moving to Ghana, where there are reasonably better infrastructure, good governance, human rights, freedoms and the rule of law. Writes Tawiah, “…Nigerians are relocating their families and businesses to Ghana. Tyre manufacturers Dunlop Nigeria have moved base to Ghana while several Nigerian companies are in queue to relocate. Then recently, we read that the educational system in Nigeria is getting so bad that most Nigerians are prepared to pay in excess of US$6,000 to sponsor their wards in Ghanaian universities. Today, most Ghanaians have Nigerian neighbours, especially those in the middle-upper class neighbourhoods.”
WORD!!!
